Executive Director
Sally Martin
Sally Martin, who hails from Kenya, is a dedicated non-profit leader and community builder focused on creating a positive impact in the lives of individuals and communities. With a strong awareness of the challenges faced by underserved, she established the Valid Dreams Foundation driven by her passion for helping others and dedicates her career to advocating for social change and promoting inclusive societies. Her core values include social justice, sustainable development, empowerment, and gender equality.
Sally is committed to working alongside equity-deserving individuals, communities, and institutions, empowering women in BIPOC communities to amplify their voices and reach their full potential.
Recognizing the importance of collaboration and partnerships, which aligns with SDG 17, Sally has built alliances with local stakeholders, government agencies, and partners to ensure that collective efforts lead to significant impact and systemic change. She actively engages in community-building initiatives by organizing workshops, seminars, and conferences that encourage dialogue, raise awareness, and inspire action. Through these efforts, Sally has fostered a culture of empathy, compassion, and unity within the community.
With extensive knowledge and experience in non-profit management, anti-racism, and community development, Sally is a sought-after speaker, consultant, and thought leader. She has delivered motivational talks at both national and international conferences, sharing insights on community development with emerging and established non-profit organizations.
Sally is also a two-time nominee for the Multiculturalism and Anti-Racism Awards in Columbia.
Before moving to Canada, she served as a Regional Consultant and Program Coordinator for UN Women and was a Principal Partner for Sustainable Economic Development Organizations. In2013, she was a youth representative for the Federation of Women Groups in Kenya, served as Chairperson for 2020 Ventures in 2017/2018, and was elected as a Board Member for Drive Happiness in 2019.
In her free time, Sally enjoys connecting with nature, reading, meditating, dancing, and cooking.

Culturally Sensitive Mental Health Therapist
Shirvington Hannays
Shirvington is a Guayanese-Canadian Mental Health Therapist and Addiction Counsellor with experience working with non-profit organizations.
His Culturally Sensitive approach takes into account the cultural and spiritual background of a person, with more than 15 years of research on the psychological role of these.
In addition to developing and operating his virtual Behavioural Change Clinic, Shirvington has occupied roles such as: Lead Addiction Therapist at the Addiction Recovery Network, Clinical director at the salvation Army´s Calgary Centre of Hope, and Senior Addiction Counsellor at the Addiction Recovery Program.

Nyamal Lol
An invaluable part of the Valid Dreams Foundation team, Nyamal Gai continues to greatly contribute to the Diversity and Culture of our organization. With extensive experience in both the non-profit and people relations fields.

Web Administrator
Isabel Sarmiento
Originally from Spain, Isabel moved to Kamloops in 2021. She is a web developer and is in charge of managing the Valid Dreams Foundation website.

Reign
Reign is a Filipino-Canadian university student who is deeply passionate about people’s life stories and building community. She believes in unity and creating a safe space where individuals can truly express and be themselves.

Treasurer
Oluwaseyi Gbadamosi
Originally from Nigeria, Seyi makes sure that our accounting stays in order! He lives in Kamloops, enjoys swimming and has a passion for crunching numbers, which is what led him to volunteer as Valid Dreams Foundation's treasurer
